Archiving research data

According to Swedish law, research data must be archived by the university. At Lund University, the Records Management and Archives Office works to support archiving for researchers and faculties.

When it comes to archiving analog material there are guidelines on storage and transfer at the University Archives. As for digital material and digital data there is at this time no central technical solution for e-archiving at Lund University. Different local solutions are used until a central agreement is in place. It is important to store the data in a safe way, while waiting for an archival solution.

Data that is to be archived must be well described, read more about this on our page about organising data. This data must also be saved in persistent formats that are not dependent on any specific software.

At the Lund University Staff Pages, you can find useful information about what must be archived and what can be disposed of.
