Economics Research Help

The following support measures are available for an internal principal investigator (PI) applying for external research funds that will be placed at the department.


Proofreading

A PI may apply for proofreading once a year if the application exceeds 100 000 kr by sending an email to Jenny and asking for support. When the support has been approved, you need to prepay the proofreading and thereafter apply for an expense allowance through Primula. 


Seed time

A PI may apply for “seed time” once a year for a new application that exceeds 2.5 mkr and if at least 50% of the funds will be used to employ other researchers at the department than the PI. The seed time consists of 40 hours, which will be added to the PI’s teaching hours. If the application is successful, additional 40 hours will be handed out to initiate the project. If the application exceeds 6 mkr, the number of hours to initiate the project increases to 80 hours.

Highly complex and prestigious applications will be considered on an individual basis and support will be given to establish and facilitate connections with research-service units on faculty and/or university level.

Mentorship or panels

A junior PI with an application exceeding 2 mkr may take advantage of an internal mentor, who will receive 8 hours for reading and discussing the application. The mentor may be any of the more senior researchers at the department and the PI should ask the potential mentor before he/she apply for this opportunity.

Apply by sending an email to the head of the department and please include the name of the internal mentor.  

Highly complex and prestigious applications will be considered on an individual basis and support will be given to establish a panel consisting of one external researchers, whom will be employed for writing an expert opinion. The external reviewer will receive 2 000 SEK for writing the report.

Travel and research grants

Researchers, doctoral students, lecturers or readers at Lund University can apply for the faculties’ travel and research grants. 

The application period for the faculties’ travel and research grants is at the start of the spring and autumn semesters, normally in February and September. The call for applications states the eligibility criteria.
