Betty Saenyi at the Department of Informatics is presenting her research proposal.
Platformization of the Public Digital Health Systems
The proliferation of digital platforms in different industries have seen the rise of a platform economy where economic and social activities are carried out via digital platforms. Healthcare is one such a sector that has seen the biggest technology companies investing in digital healthcare in the past three years. Public organizations see platforms as the “new form of public good” where they serve as the centre points of service delivery and citizen engagement.
This thesis will be investigating the platformization process within the public healthcare sector as platforms rise to become the dominant infrastructure for information sharing, coordination, and provision of healthcare services. Using Archer’s morphogenetic approach, the thesis purposes to investigate the mechanisms through which digital health platforms are being established while paying special attention to their governance, architecture, and data regulation regimes.
